Radical changes

It is time for a radical change at the Crested Butte Community Yoga Coop this year and we are excited to share with you as a collective our personal growth and transformation at this juncture.

Looking back over the past 10 years it is easy to reflect on how much we have accomplished as a yoga community.
We found ourselves able to rent a space in a funky old school gym basement at the Town Hall, where the old wooden floor is not flat much like the colorful personalities of our teachers.
We have attracted 935 members to our Facebook group page, we have had 2,127 clients use Mind Body to attend our classes, we have taught over 6,240 classes in 10 years with 54 different teachers who have participated at the CBCYC.
The Crested Butte Community Yoga Coop has been able to offer 4 years of Yoga Teacher Trainings graduating 21 amazing, certified yoga instructors.
It has been a great opportunity for all of us to connect to the many different locals and visitors who have come to join us for a practice.
We started on December 15th, 2014, with the idea that each individual yoga teacher has their own unique background in the Yogic Arts and what if we collaborated and offered a full weekly schedule to our community at an affordable price.  Our mission was simply this:
“Local teachers dedicated to the growth and awareness of yoga in Crested Butte.”
Since then, our mission statement evolved:
“The Crested Butte Community Yoga Co-op (CBCYC) began in the Winter of 2014 with a mission to make Yoga accessible for everyone by offering a variety of affordable classes. The CBCYC is a volunteer organization, and each teacher owns and operates their own classes, offering their own style, paying their own rent and insurance. Local yoga instructors collaborating to achieve a common goal; we are proud to be offering this community a full schedule of classes from many different lineages of the Yogic Arts.”

We want to thank so many people in our lives who have been a part of this collaboration.  It is time now for not so much a change but a transformation, “that orients an organized body in a new direction and takes it to an entirely new and different function.”

Starting September 18th after the last day of our Summer Season, we will temporarily stop offering classes at the town hall in person.

We have plans to resume classes in the Summer season 2024 and possibly offer the 30 day Challenge this winter.

We all love teaching and as a teacher community we have become stronger together as friends and Cooperative partners, but after 3 years of working on bringing our student community back together since the unravelling times of Covid, the movement has trickled and remained uncertain.  Our classes are at times empty, and this has dampened the light a bit within our teacher community.

So, we are ready to sit in uncertainty and clear the canvas for something new to come.

We have no problem honoring any form of refund for punch passes that you think you will not be able to use.  Please email us at cbyogacoop@gmail.com  and Kristi Murrin will send you a refund payment via Venmo or check.

It is not over…

Zoom classes will be offered by several different teachers.  $15 classes.  Students will be able to make a payment via Venmo to each individual teacher.

Our web site will remain up on the web.  Facebook and Instagram announcements will be made, and emails sent on how this all begins to transform itself.

It has been an amazing Journey so far and we all want to give big thank you’s to all the teachers, town administrators at the CB Town Hall, the Center for the Arts, our local students, and visitors.

And a huge Thank You to all the participating teachers over the last 10 years:
